Jake Barnes & Eddie Church - Catching Out
A freight journey from Adelaide to Perth. For 40 hours straight, a 50-wagon, 1,800-metre Pacific National train (PNT 5MP5) was our home. Riding west from Adelaide to Perth, cutting across the continent on the Transcontinental freight line. Somewhere between Cook and Kalgoorlie, the track stops bending. It runs dead straight for 478 kilometres — the longest stretch of straight railway on Earth. No turns. No breaks. Just horizon. Next time we're taking more beer.
